During the remastering „The Bavarian Al Capone" was rescaled to a new aspect ratio from 1:1.33 (4:3) into 1:1.66 wide screen. Therefore the film negative was scanned in a higher resolution of 2.5K. In cooperation with cinematographer Ludolph Weyer the film was reframed then after.
A „full area scan“ of the original shooting negative created a wider picture than the former 1.33 projection display could show. This served as source material.
Using the the more expanded film frame with small black vertical edgings (15:9) the camera image was cropped just a little horizontally. Scene by scene the new framing was individually adjusted.
The scrolling titles were renewed. Many old press clippings and photos had to be scanned and replaced. Even the soundtrack was remixed.
The original 1:1.33 version of the film also got saved as historic archival item for the future.
